Our story
Umami House was born out of a simple belief: that Japanese food at its finest doesn't have to be a once-a-year occasion. It can be your Tuesday night. Your birthday dinner. Your first date.
Our head chef, Kenji Yamamoto, trained for eight years in Kyoto before bringing his craft to Long Island. Every dish reflects that discipline — the patience, the precision, the deep respect for ingredients.
We source locally where we can, and globally where we must. The fish is fresh, the sake is curated, and the miso is made in-house from a recipe Kenji won't write down.
"Food is memory. Every bowl of ramen should feel like coming home." — Chef Kenji Yamamoto
